A Message from your School Counselor!
Greetings parents, students, and staff! My name is Ms. Manuel, and I am excited to serve as the School Counselor at Hightower Trail! As your School Counselor, I would like to provide you with some information about how I can help families and students succeed.
What does a School Counselor do?
Classroom Counseling Curriculum- I teach classroom lessons to all students on topics such as social/emotional, academic, and career needs.
Individual Student Planning- I will assist students with goal formation/planning (behavioral, academic, social and emotional.)
Responsive Services- I will meet with students about their immediate needs: counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, referral, and peer mediation.
System Support- I help with school wide program planning and implementation (PBIS), consulting with other professionals, and coordination of various supports for students and families.
Group Counseling – Throughout the school year, small group (4-6 students) counseling sessions will occur with students. The groups sessions will focus on topics such as grief, family transitions, social skills, conflict resolution, and academics.
