Principal's Corner
Greetings Families and Community Members:
Welcome to an awesome new year at Hightower Trail Elementary School. I am so honored to serve as your Principal for the 2021- 2022 school year.
Hightower Trail Elementary School is an outstanding school, and we pride ourselves in having a “Culture of Excellence.” We believe that learning experiences for children should be as unique as the individual, and it is our responsibility to provide “World - Class” instruction and meet the needs of every student.
As we all return to campus this year, please know that we have taken every precaution to ensure your child’s health and safety. At this time our Superintendent has remained firm on his decision that mask will remain mandatory on busses and while on campus. We have hand washing and social distancing protocols in place to assist with mitigation efforts. While we have seen tremendous improvements and are thankful for vaccines available, we acknowledge that we are still battling the COVID-19 pandemic and we must remain vigilant if we want to continue to keep our children and staff members safe.
We welcome our parents as partners in this educational process. We look forward to your participation in school events, active engagement, and support with at - home activities and having important discussions with students regarding work habits and school expectations.
This year we welcome a few new faces to the tribe. We are excited to have Mrs. Victoria Jefferson in the front office, Ms. Chavous in Kindergarten, Ms. Nieto in 2nd grade, Ms. Weaver in 4th grade and Mr. Lively in 5th grade. Ms. Gee, our former secretary, is now a teacher and will serve Pre-K. We know that these teachers will bring their extraordinary talents to the classroom and enhance the lives of our students.
Prior to the pandemic, we had tremendous success with World Class Wednesday. On these days students wore uniform polo shirts and khaki bottoms. Based upon the response from parents and students, we are extending uniform attire days to Monday through Wednesday. Students may wear a red or goldenrod colored polo shirt with the khaki bottoms. Thursdays and Fridays students may dress in school appropriate attire with some Fridays reserved as spirit days. Should you choose, uniform polos and bottoms may be purchased at Wal-Mart for an affordable cost or any other uniform store of your choice. As the school year begins, we will have polo-shirts embroidered with the Hightower Trail logo available for purchase.
Here at Hightower Trail Elementary School, we have high expectations of our teachers, staff, and students. We understand the importance of a firm educational foundation and its relation to future academic success. What we want you to know is that we cannot do this without your support, and we look forward to the journey that lies ahead of us.
